Deuteronomy- The Exortation

Today we started reading Deuteronomy.

It's the last book Moses writes before he is translated (he does not die).

Deuteronomy is a greek word.
Deuter- means second
Onomy-means law

Deuteronomy- second law

Moses helped the Israelites get out of Egypt, and wonder through the wilderness for 40 years. He went through a lot with them so he naturally felt inclined to try to remind and admonish them. He knew that it would be necessary for the Israelites to remember of God's hand in their lives.

Why is it necessary for us to remember God's hands in our life?

Joshua 1- Be strong and of good courage

Welcome back!!

It was great seeing all of you today!!

Today we starting reading the book of Joshua.

The book of Joshua was named after the person who lead the Israelites into the promised land, Canaan.

Joshua means Jesus. There is a similitude between Joshua and Jesus Christ. Joshua lead the Israelites into the promised land as Jesus Christ leads us into the promised land.

The book of Joshua is filled with war. The Lord helped the Israelites conquer different cities.

Today we discussed how difficult it might have been for Joshua to lead the Israelites. He might have felt like he had big shoes to fill (Moses predecessor). How did the Lord counsel him?

The answer is in Joshua chapter 1.
